Politic Lessons From The Buddha
A Brazilian Buddhist Tale (abaixo em português)

In the first  teachings of the Buddha Shakyamuni, all the rules were condensed this way, in the Saying of the Seven Buddhas:

Never do evil
Always do good
Purify your mind
These ate the teachings of all Buddhas.

According to the Buddhist sayings, in the beginning, Buddha was only surrounded by very pure souls. So, his teachings needed no much words. Just a few were enough to keep them in the right path and transmit it’s essence. As time passed, more people came around, and so, more teaching had to be written, to accomplish the task of showing the way and maintaining people in the proper path.
But make no mistake: all the essence of his teaching still rests in these sayings, and from it can be understood.

Its first sentence is a negative one: Never do evil.
Its second, an affirmative: Always do good.
It might seems that the second sentence makes the first one unnecessary. But then we would loose an important aspect of its teachings.

Before doing good, you have to quit doing evil.

My dear politicians, please learn something from the Buddha.
Doing good, but keep on doing evil, is not a good thing. It doesn’t make you respectfull or honorable.
